The most impressive square in Budapest and a masterpiece of planning

Heroes’ Square in Budapest is situated at the end of Andrássy Avenue and serves as the gateway of the City Park (Városliget) – one of the world’s first public parks.

The Square is very popular with tourists and is on every tour guide and must-see sights in Budapest list. It is a perfect plcae to visit year-round as it offers activities such as boat riding in the summer and ice skating on a frozen lake in winter. Heroes’ Square is also easily accessible to many other tourist attractions nearby at the City Park, and its beauty during day or evening, when nicely illuminated, draws visitors throughout the day.

Millennium Monument

In the center of Heroes’ Square lies the exquisite Millennium Monument. This Iconic statue complex featuring the statues of Seven Chieftains of the Magyars and other leaders can be seen from afar thanks in part to its 36-meter pillar topped by the Archangel Gabriel.

Part of the spectacle of Heroes’ Square is the road leading to it on Andrássy Avenue, also referred to as the Champs-Élysées of Budapest, due to its elegant vast lanes dotted with high fashion brands, major cultural hubs, a range of museums, exhibition halls, and examples of fine classical architecture.
